BACK ROW: Warren Ehrp, John Alexander, Mgr. 5 Duane Kent Jumor Hummel, George Naberhaus, Randall Marston, Denny Bennett, Coach Cooper, Larry Grieme. E' 7957 Considerable success was enjoyed by this year's baseball team as they copped the Popcorn Loop championship with a three win no loss record. Thompson and Wiese did most of the pitching for the Rockets, tossing several near no hitters. The season 's record was 9-2, with Lake View handing the team the only regular season loss The team was unable to play a single home game because of difficulties experienced by the new construction taking place in center field. The only other loss was a 5-0 shut-out at the hands of Greenville-Rossie in the opening round of the sub state toumey at Paullina . The team won the sectional and district meets at Washta, defeating Kingsley 12-2 Cushing 3-1, and Grand Meadow 7-4 in the sectional. Hinton fell 6-5 and Smithland 1-0 in the District. Three seniors were on the team: Don Thompson, Paul Wiese and Dick Waterbury.
