Advancement is synonymous with pro- gress. Today the age of sputnik, nuclear weapons, and other scientific advances shows the persistence in and the results of man's desire to progress. To the average high school freshman the goals of his educational efforts are vague and indefinite. Words of advice, example of others, and demands of the present day gradually awaken and enkindle within him a desire for conscientious efforts in the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and pertin- ent intellectual equipment with which 'he may later pursue a chosen profession. Our underclassmen are a valuable asset to Scecina. Realizing that they are the future seniors, they contribute time, effort, and talent to the expansion of school ac- tivities and projects. Their unselfish spirit of giving proves conducive to the strength- ening of interrschool loyalty and co-oper- ation. Through the earnest application of these principles, they will find themselves better equipped to face the realities of life, thus becoming reputable citizens in this world and preparing themselves to meet their God in eternity.
