Last year wrestling was added to the long list of Scecina firsts. From the beginning our wrestlers were among the state's finest. This year by all indi- cations Coach John Hurrle has exceeded his former accomplishment. As a result of his help and encour- agement the team was victorious over Cathedral and Sacred Heart, 24-17 and 55-ll respectively. With the addition of a reserve team, Mr. Hurrle has made it possible for more boys to wrestle. Fine records of many of the wrestlers have made it a banner year. We, the graduating class of 1959, wish Mr. Hurrle and his grapplers continued victories. -si.: if are . eu 1.11, Baseball Fin! Row: D. Poetz, J. Gillespie, D. Hagan, D. English, D. Lathrop, J. Moorman, R. Johns. Second Row: T. McGinley, L. Loftus, M. Orphey, B. Whitaker, M. Sullivan, A. Hoop, M. O'Brien. Baseball has merited a prominent place in the Scecina athletic program. Spring finds many of our boys donning baseball suits, running for balls and mitts, grasping for bats, and rushing to action on the baseball diamond. Coach Ray Riley is to be corn- mended for the outstanding record of his last years team which placed second in the city. With four returning lettermen and fifteen re- turning reserve players, this year's team has again invaded the ranks of the city's baseball powers.

Track Since the first days of spring, Coach Bill Kuntz and his golfers have been out on the green fairways of Pleasant Run. Mr. Kuntz is blessed with seasoned players as well as talent. With this combination he has had a very successful season. Simon and Wiltshire finish first and second to win another meet for the Scecina track team When the track season first opened, Mr. Richard McLeish, track coach, said, They'll be out and running this year. And run they did! XVith six returning letter- men and a difficult schedule, Mr, McLeish and his fine team placed high in the city standings. 74

Dedication To you, Sister Hortense, we, the graduating class of 1959, dedi- cate this edition of the SCECINARAMA. For all of us, this dedica- tion is replete with significance, It is our way of expressing deepest gratitude for the role you have played in our lives at Scecina. XVe thank you for giving us our theme-THE SHINING HOURS, the striking slogan to which you so frequently refer. But above all, vve thank you for making THE SHINING HOURS more than just a slogan, but a gradual realization during our treasured high school years. You have added a womanly touch to Scecina, a touch that is necessary, evident, and deeply appreciated. For your spirit of sacrifice in guiding and inspiring us, we shall always be grateful, You have not only encouraged each of us to be a vital part of Scecina but you have, by your example, manifested how these hours can truly be the ones that shine. Yours has been a priceless service to us, and to you we owe a debt we can never repay. XVe hope that the dedication of our yearbook to you may, in some small way. express our gratitude for all you have done for us. May it also encourage you, Sister Hortense, to remember our class in your prayers.
