Foreword The years in high school have been said to be the best years of our lives. Here at Scecina they have been called by another name, one more impressive - THE SHINING HOURS. This is the light in which we shall recall high school experiences as fond recollections of the past. Regardless of how remote such events may appear, they will present a vivid unforgettable picture, if we remember them as the SHINING HOURS. Sometimes, with the routine and long periods of study that are a necessary part of high school life, we tend to forget that these hours can be shining - the ones that mean the most now, and the ones which will be the most valuable in the realization of our role as good Catholic adults. It is the purpose of this year's SCECINARAMA to help recall, especially to the senior class, the years of our lives spent at Scecina. This yearbook proposes to highlight the spiritual, aca- demic, and social experiences of our high school career, all of which have contributed to the rewarding climax of each of our lives - GRADUATION DAY. Father Thomas Scecina, Chaplain and hero of World War Il, who willingly gave the little extra to serve God and his fellowmen. REVEREND THOMAS SCECINA 'Q UUNI7- if SSX' xnxx L- 4' 'W .

Again this year the 1959 Scecina Basketball team gOt off to a slow start. They dropped two to Shortridge and Tech, 85-70 and 85-55 respectively. They then bounced back to even their record by topping Wood 64-44 and Warren 69-64. Coming just short of an upset victory over Schulte of Terre Haute 59-57, they accomplished an upset over highly rated Ben Davis 55-50. Their record at 3-3, the Crusaders attacked Gerst- meyer in the Elkhart tournament but were defeated by the state power in a double overtime, 65-65. The next night they crushed Elkhart's third place hopes 70-65. Traveling to Lebanon they had a bad night and bowed 62-57. The next week the mighty Crusaders humbled Sacred Heart 68-32. The Crusaders were defeated by Broad Ripple, 70- 55 but bounced back to defeat Pike Township 62-39. From that victory to the end of the season, the Crusaders become a different team. They went on to defeat Greenfield, Cathedral, Franklin Township, and Decatur Central. Coach Sexson has again shown his high caliber as a coach and as a gentleman. Through his influence Sce- cina's basketball team has broken the ranks of the city's best.
