The words of Gtantland Rice describe the 1958 Scecina High School football team's season. The Crusaders had some shining hours and some dark ones, too. Hampered by injuries and bad weather, the Crusaders' magnificent spirit remained undaunted. Losing key players from last year's team, they attacked their schedule like seasoned veterans. Beginning the season with a con- vincing 26-0 victory over Warren Central, they proceeded to tie a rugged Central Catholic of Fort Wayne team 0-0. They then dropped a couple of close ones to Broad Ripple and New Castle. Bouncing back, they beat Wash- ington and Crispus Attucks only to lose a thriller to Sacred Heart 30-26. Due to inclement weather and a defect in the timing apparatus of the score- board, they lost a tough game to Tech 15-O. Although the boys played vali- antly, they were defeated by a small but fast and experienced Cathedral eleven 20-O. Without the services of the season by defeating Howe 26-0. ,.p.y,,p,.
