In many fields we have made our presence felt In our sophomore year. we broke with tradition by putting on the first and only Qto dateb sophomore dance. As it was a spring dance. we decorated the gym with fresh flowers and ivy-very pretty and lots of fun? ln our junior year. some of our classmates became the hrst active members of the local chapter of the National Honor Society. Others worked on the Blotter , which for the first time achieved top posi- tion in the second-class rating. For our Junior Prom, a giant mural in black and silver on the west wall, and street lights, also in black and silver, transformed the gym into Midnight in Manhattan . We had a wonderful time dancing by the light of the silvery moon . This year a constant round of activities has kept us on our toes. The sale of advertising for the yearbook, the sale of magazines fto earn money for our senior expensesj. the senior play. the operetta. the publica- tion of our yearbook. participation in clubs. musical organizations. and athletics. and a little homework on the side-variety is the spice of lifef l,l..X55 OI'l'Itl1R5 President, Ernest lflemig: Vice-President, XY'illiam Stoloski: Secretary, Lorraine Kelly: 'lirc-asurer. As for the girls, there were six who made the cheering squad, XY'e might add, they did a territic job in boosting the boys' spirits with their cheersf lfreshman Day was an event not easily forgotten. Although we were worried about it, when it was over, we decided it was really a lot of fun. NX'ith the seniors protecting our interests, we managed to sur- vive the ordeal. Still, it was not uncommon to find a freshman pushing a peanut along the street or shining Mr. Wfenles shoes. It was rough, but fun: just wait 'til next yearf Among other things, let's not forget the clubs and organizations in which many freshmen took part: band, orchestra, chorus, l .H,A. and other activities had several freshman members. WINTER, During the winter season. the routine was somewhat broken by Class Night. XVe placed fourth with 200 points. ln the various events, our football skit brought us fourth place and the cheerleaders captured second place: while in basketball, the boys were beaten by the sophomores. and the girls won over the sophomores by a slim margin. But just wait 'til next year. The basketball season came and went without bringing too much luck to the freshman team: how- ever, as we've said before, Wait 'til next yearfn SPRING, At last spring arrived, bringing with it the track and baseball seasons. Every afternoon we could see the boys running around the track, broad- iumping, and catching and batting on the ball tield. FALL: Election of othcers was held this fall. The othcers chosen were president, vice-president, second vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. After the voting in the morning, the results were announced in the afternoon. It was a good race! Football games last fall in the junior high were pretty tough. 7-5 and 7-2 battled for tirst place in the seventh grade, with 7-2 winning, while in the eighth grade, 8-3 was champ. New interests were aroused when the clubs in the junior high were re-organized. Some of them were If.H.A, Tumbling Club, junior Red Cross. Drama Club, and many others. WINTER: Drama Club, on the day Christmas vaca- tion began. presented a play, A Christmas Carol . A few months later the Tumbling Club, under the direction of Mr. Davis, put on an exhibition for the junior High, the Elementary Schools, and for the Fathers of the boys on Fathers Night. Basketball was another hard and bitterly fought with 7-2 tinally beating 7-4 for tirst place in the seventh grade, and 8-5 nosing out 8-2 for first' place. SPRING: The F.H.A. Fashion Show was a real good one with boys and girls from the seventh and eighth grades volunteering to model the clothes. The show was presented on the 6th of April. Softball games this year in the junior high should be good ones, as most of the classes are about equal in strength. Wfonder who'll winf , H 'S At . n . X ,ff 1 f J, Q lx H ' b --M wx.-.
