The dance was a big success with its Cinder- ella theme and its queen. One of our junior girls and her escort were chosen as the Cinderella king and queen. The queen was crowned with a lovely wreath of white carnations. The theme was well carried out by our decorations of glass slippers on all the tables. ll1C'l'l'Srl l ilI'lSSlll1 U NDER the supervision of Miss Ewing, the junior girls in their frosh year came up with a new club, namely the Literary Club. For three years now, the girls have learned more and more how to ap- preciate literature and have had many good times going to the city and seeing a Broadway play. Be- sides this club of our own, the juniors took part in many other clubs such as Girls' Glee Club, Boys' 91401-s Glee Club. Mixed Chorus. Girls' Sports Club and G.O. XX'e enjoyed working with the other classes in these activities. OT only did the juniors win second place in this yearis Class Night. but they also had a lot to say in bringing it back. Very appropriate for the day was our theme. Sadie Hawkins' Day '. The Dogpatch characters of Daisy Mae, L'il Abner, Wlolli Girl. Mammy and Pappy Yokum and many others. were well portrayed by our junior classnten. N their third year, each preceding class has had the tiun and work ot' putting together S.H.S.'s paper, The Bfffffn. This year, as always, the juniors did their best to bring enjoyment and news to the rest of the student body. In March the editors at- tended the Scholastic Press Convention at Columbia University, where the main event was the speech given by President Truman. All in all, The Bfnfler was the biggest project of the year. PERETTA was another event which was .1 big thing in our junior year. since two of the leads ing parts were played by juniors. Moreover. many of us were found in the chorus. dancing, and back- stage helping with props, make-up, costumes. etc. This coming summer two of our juniors will attend Girls' and Boys' State at well known colleges. AH! Rahf Rahf went the many junior girls on Varsity and ,l.V. cheering scjuads that spurred our boys' teams to victory. Our class. as usual. did a line job participating in all girls' and boys' sports such as hockey. soccer, football, basketball. baseball. tennis, badminton. and track. Vifith the help ol' our class we hope to win many championships. ENIORS. which we will be next year, is some' thing that we have been looking forward to for three years. We hope we can do as well as this years seniors have done. So, until next year, let's keep on having fun and working hard as we did in our junior year. We might have appeared lost to the upper classmen, but we were only fooling. RUNNING up and down the stairs with the soph- omores' books kept us busy on Freshman Day. Even though we outnumbered the sophomores there still seemed to be one more persons books to carry, We want to apologize to all our teachers if we caused any disturbance with our pails. EVERYWHERE in sports freshmen were to be found. On the football field we spent many hours training hard for our clashes with other schools. But, alas! Our hard hours of training seemed to be in vain for we had a poor season. The same went for basketball. But we don't give up easily, we just dried our tears and said, Wait till next year. In the spring we were members of the baseball and track teams doing our share to help S.H.S. win in sports. 9144!-w ! , , I a X OON after we entered S.H.S. we began joining the clubs. Some of us even tried to join the Mixed Chorus, but found out it was only for upper classmen. That didn't discourage us for there was still Boys' Glee Club and Girls' Chorus. Some of our boys joined the RiHe Club and Model Railroad and became members in good standing. A few girls decided the Library Club needed a freshman representative and so joined it. We did the same with junior Red Cross and soon that club was flour- ishing with freshmen. Many also became pretty good photographers after joining the Camera Club. Yes sirl You can really say that the freshmen were en- thusiastic club joiners. H AVING been in these activities didn't stop us freshmen from getting good marks. Many of the freshmen made the honor roll, and throughout the year the majority of the students on the honor roll were freshmen. MANY freshmen were found at the junior Prom and Varsity Dance, which showed that we did 0.K. socially. Wfe showed our school spirit by taking part in school activities and by going to the football and basketball games. The Senior Play and Operetta were other school programs that the freshmen at- tended. Most of us subscribed to The Blffner and quite a few were on The Blotffer staff. VERYONE was eager to make a good showing on Class Night. We worked hard on our theme Vaudeville as we got ready for the big night. But, alas! The Freshmen came in fourth. We were not too disappointed because we didn't really expect to win our first year. This year's Class Night was a lot of fun and we are all looking forward to next year when we hope to do better. EVER a dull moment was had in our freshman year. During this time we have become a part of S.H.S. We have all changed quite a bit since last September when we were green aiid young. Then we were new here, and we didn't always know what we were doing or whereljwef were going, but nowgf well, here's hoping otfr next ,three years at S.H.S. will be just as njuch ,fun as ourltirst year' has been. .
