The Bomber Varsity Soccer team finished their season with a 7-8-1 record. The team was disap- pointed by losing four games by one goal, but they were delighted by only allowing 37 goals in sixteen games. The team was also proud of their longest winning streak of the season - 5 games. The Bombers did lack offensive punch, however, as they only scored 38 goals in sixteen games, an average of about 2.4 goals per game. However, they showed a strong offense against St. Mary's by tying a team record of eight goals in one game. With the strong play of 3rd team All-County selection Dan Buehler, who set a new record of five goals, in one game and tied the record of 14 goals in a season, the Bombers came near to the .500 season predicted by first year Coach Bill Doll. Offensive play by Bob Shorosky, George Burbank, and Rich Balon and the tough defense of Don Gasparro, Mike Cunliffe, and Kevin Spiecker helped to round out this year's team. Dan Buehler, Bob Shorosky, Don Gasparro, Mike Cunliffe, George Burbank, and Rich Balon were all nominated for All-Conference honors. In addition to this achievement Joseph Nalaticchio, the treasurer of the Raritan Valley Soccer Offi- cials. presented the annual sportsmanship award to Coach Doll and his squad at the Sports Ban- quet on December third.
