The primary aim of the Foreign Language Department is to develop the ability of the student to understand, speak, read and write the language being studied. The offerings are in French, German, Latin, Russian and Spanish. The student is required to take a minimum of two years of one language to cover the basic groundwork. For those who excel in the language and are interested in continuing the language in college, perhaps to pursue a language career, advanced courses in the third and fourth year are offered.
