Rider College Social Studies Where man is going depends on where he has been; what he intends to do is based upon what he has accomplished. The bond between these is called history. Yet, the story of mankind is more than mere dates and data. It is a presenta- tion of the world and the people who perform in this presentation. The story unfolds itself to the student. The disclosures are as diverse as the building of the Siberian railroad and as renowned as the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Each, in its own way, contributes to the standards of future performances. 16

Yet, the areas it encompasses are immeasurable. Its realm has been divided and subdivided over and over again, while new discoveries and uses multiply its enor- mity. The logic used to produce its solu- tions is the groundwork of all serious thought. The study of mathematics pro- vides mental stimulation and this added to interest equals a keen and alert mind.
