PHYSICAL EDUCATION The primary aim of the physical edu- cation department is to teach students the importance of physical fitness. Aid- ing students to acquire skills and develop coordination are additional aims of the department. Courses in personal health, drivers’ education, and first aid con- tribute to students’ growth in ability to accept the responsibilities they will as- sume as adult members of society. ALLAN MOUNT M.A. The chief aim of the art department is to provide students with an understand- ing and appreciation of art. Courses in- clude basic and advanced art, art appre- ciation, and art workshop. These courses cover the principles of design, compo- sition, lettering, advertising art, figure drawing, color, perspective and light, and shade proportion. Creative self-expres- sion on the part of the student is encour- aged. Projects in advanced art courses are chosen by the students according to their personal interests. The music curriculum includes a wide variety of courses which serve to develop interest as well as talent. The offered courses are glee club, harmony, and mu- sic appreciation. Instruction on musical instruments is also available to interested students. Students may put their talent to use in the annual spring concert and the march- ing and dance bands. 19
