Two basic courses of study—secretarial and general clerical—are available to the business student. After two years each of shorthand and typing, and possible elective courses in bookkeeping and distributive education, the senior secretarial student may take the office practice course in which office- machine operation, telephone techniques, filing, and duplicating are taught. Fifteen weeks of on-the-job training serve to com- plete the course. Besides two years of algebra, one year of plane geometry, one-half year of ana- lytic geometry, and one-half year of trig- onometry, courses in modern algebra and advanced mathematics are offered as electives. Interested students compete among themselves and with math stu- dents from other area schools in mathe- matical contests. For those students interested in indus- trial or business careers, courses in shop math, business arithmetic, and math review are available. Techniques in mathematics. 15

In wood shop, metal shop, and auto shop, students learn basic industrial skills. Additional skills, for inter- ested students, are taught in electronics, graphic arts, and drafting.
