Time is an elusive thing—it is past, present and future. How we utilize time is the most important function known to mankind—for his destruction or for his salvation. We hope that those who are leav- ing Sayreville High School have learned that each single moment, as it ticks by, is not to be ignored— for the moments make the years and the years race by swiftly. VINCENT J. ABBATIELLO Superintendent

LINCOLN SCHOOL The oldest school building still in use in 1964. One of the four that were in use when Dr. Pollack became Superintendent of Sayreville. Each year Dr. Pollack estimated the cost of educa- tion for the following year. He then would work with the Board of Education to prepare the budget which would be submitted to the voters. WILSON SCHOOL The first high school whose curricular and extra curricular activities were ex- panded under Dr. Pollack. One of Dr. Pollack’s main interests was the implementation of the im- provement and expansion of curricu- lar offerings. The growth of the com- mercial program exemplifies this in- terest. He supported the shift from courses simply in stenography and typing to the present offerings which include provision for on-the-job train- ing and locating employment for stu- dents after graduation. SAYREVILLE WAR MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL The last of four new buildings that Dr. Pollack worked actively in the plan- ning and erection. He lived to par- ticipate in the ground breaking cere- monies of the most recent addition to the system, a new Junior High School whose completion is planned for Septem- ber. 1967. Dr. Pollack was genuinely interested in sports and constantly approved plans for the improve- ment of the health and well-being of the stu- dents. He was an enthusiastic speaker at each annual banquet given in honor of Sayreville’s athletes. Dr. Pollack and Miss Samsel formed an efficient team. Together they served the Sayreville school system for many years. DR. RICHARD S. POLLACK Superintendent 1945-1964
