IRENE NELSON Rene Glee Club: 1, 2, 3, 4; Twirling Club: 1, 2, 3; Latin Club: 2; French Club: 2; Handicraft Club: 4. Giggling and laughing—that's Rene. Each day she strolls into class without a worry to trouble her. Dancing and ice-skating are her favorite pleasures. Rene's ambition is to be a registered nurse. NORMAN NELSON Nels Football: 1. Want to know how to raise something? Ask Norman. He is the farmer of our class. Nels' main object in life is to own a farm of his own. There is no doubt in our minds that this will happen. ELEANOR PALMOWSKI El Glee Club: 2; Senior Commercial Club: 4. Don't call me that may be heard from Eleanor, for she greatly dislikes being called different nicknames. She is one of the class jitterbugs. Eleanor, like many other commer- cial students wants to become the perfect secretary. ■ 29

ROBERT MILLER Bob Senior Commercial Club: 4. Here is the silent member of the senior class. As far as we know, his only dislike in school has been homework. Modern music and a girl to share it are Bob's conception of Paradise. He would like to manage a grocery store and pilot his own plane. MADGE MONTREY Midge Twirling: 1, 2, 3, 4; Glee Club: 1, 2, 3, 4; Library Club: 1; Handicraft Club: 4; Drum Majorette: 4. One toot on her whistle and the band comes sharply to attention, for Midge is the 1944-1945 high-strutting drum majorette. Truly an out- door girl, her favorite sports are ice-skating and swimming. This future Florence Nightingale will cheer many a patient's day at Jersey City Medical Center. STELLA MYTNICK Stel Glee Club: 2, 3, 4; Basketball: 3; Senior Com- mercial Club: 4. Stel is one of the best dressed girls of S.H.S. In her Junior year she contributed her skills as a forward on the basketball team. A great enthusiast, Stel enjoys both watching and par- ticipating in almost any sport. 28

Oh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning is Eddie's theme song. His interest in sports was shown by his admirable playing on the basketball and baseball teams. He has been unusually reticent about his plans for the future. RITA PEKARSKI Dancing Club: 1; Senior Commercial Club: 4; Yearbook: 4. Rita, the jokester of Home Room 2, keeps everyone smiling as she relates her experi- ences. She spends most of her free time read- ing and dancing. Rita's greatest wish is to be- come a secretary. 30
