Pennsylvania September 4, 1969 President of the Alumni Association Tussey Mountain Jointure Saxton, Pennsylvania Dear Fellow Alumnus: In repsonse to your letter regarding graduates of the Class of 1959, I am sending you data submitted following the tenth reunion of our class held Homecoming week of the current year. Since all members did not attend, some information of absentees was obtained from those present and there may be some discrep- ancies. With this in mind, please accept this as declaratory. LARRY McCAHAN, a pharmacist, is owner of a chain of drug stores. (Information was obtained from his secretary, DONNA BAKER.) SAM BAKER has recently opened a new restaurant in Pittsburgh. KARL KIFER and his orchestra are currently playing there. Those of our class assisting Sam in his venture as part-time waiter and waitresses as well as members of Karl's Band are: JOY TAYLOR, drums; RUTH BRUMBAUGH and GARY SHRIVER, trumpets; CLAUDIA KUHSTOSS, clarinet; and M RY ANN WEAVER, French horn. Mary Ann also assists as cashier. LARRY ZIMMERMAN and BILL AXON are, as confirmed by the sports sections of the newspapers, actively associated with the Philadelphia Eagles. These same sections frequently note activities of DAVE BURKETT, TERRY HAMM, LARRY BLACK, and GARY McGRAW with the Pittsburgh Steelers team. BARBARA FLENNER, JULIA BRENNEN, EARLA SHIRLEY, and BETH FLUKE are secretaries to the presidents of four large firms. NORMAN RUBY refers to himself as “head grease monkey in BOB FORD'S Good Gulf Station. His competitor in Neuderville is DONNIE MORNINGSTAR. GEORGE LYNN is co-owner of this venture. DICK GEIER has recently opened a used car lot in Stonerstown across the street from JIM SWOPE'S body shop and junk yard. CARL HINKEL and BLAIR GARLOCK are his hustling salesmen. Three of our class are carrying the Nightingale lamp. NANCY COX is Director of Nursing at Lancaster General Hospital. ELOUISE THOMAS teaches Nursing Arts in the same hospital. JUANITA O'NEAL is doing private duty at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital. She has specialized in geriatrics, Captain and Mrs. GEORGE THOMPSON of the United States Air Force are stationed in the Hawaiian Islands. Mrs. Thompson, his former secretary, is remembered as BARBARA BARTO. BOB RIGHTNOUR, an M.P., was laughing at Homecoming about the time he hauled HARVEY REED, Air Force lieutenant, to the guard house because of an argument with two Marines over which service is better. He said Harvey won the “debate (?!I). ANNA MAE SNYDER is now what was once called a “lady of leisure. Her husband owns a department store. DONNA RANKIN told us that she is a designer of exclusive teen and sub-teen wear for the store. CAROL RITCHEY is a buyer in the lingerie department. PATTY MELLOTT is hostess in the “We Plan Your Wedding service, and DANNY REED, a C.P.A., audits their accounts. 29

Alumni Association Page 2 September 4, 1969 WAYNE SCHENCK and EARL HESS recently bought Sam Garner's Chevrolet Showroom. DONNA DIEHL is an excellent secretary for their organization. NORMAN WAYNE, after working summer vacations in his father's department store, has finally passed state boards and is now assistant M. D. in Dr. C.L. Isenberg's Saxton office. MARY ANN CIMBALISTA is his competent nurse. RAY MITCHELL, KEN PATTERSON, and ROGER NEVILLE, former Marine sergeants, are now en- gaged in television sales and repair service. KATHLEEN LONCOSKY, FRANCES HOUP, DONNA LEABHART, SHELVY FOOR, MARY ANN BOLL- MAN, and BEULAH HEISTER are successfully creating in woman's noblest career, homemaking. THELMA BROWN is a beautician; JUDY WILLIAMS attests to her capabilities. Judy, a model for Lily Dache chapeaux, uses Thelma's Beauty Emporium exclusively. DAWN CHANEY teaches physical education at Northern Bedford County High School. It has been released by the Navy Department that WALLACE FLECK is to be the next skipper on the “Nautilus. JOANNE BAKER teaches plane geometry at Bartram High School in Philadelphia. DARLENE RIGHTENOUR and PEGGY MILLER are captains in the WAC's, serving overseas. BOB DAVIS discovered oil on an apparently worthless piece of property and is dividing his time be- tween his winter home in Florida and his summer home in Maine. BILL ESTEP manages the Saxton Sewing Factory and was instrumental in hiring several members of the Class of '60. JOYCE COOK and MARY JANE CARMACK are working in the production end of television in New York City. NELSON ADOLPHSON is doing well with his Brewery Distributorship in the Broad Top area. SHARON KEGARISE is writing a novel while on leave from her staff position on “The Broad Top Bulletin. I hope this is sufficient data on the members of our class. My secretary, DONNA WRIGHT, will be very willing to send more as it is made known to her in my absence.
