During the past years it has been my privilege to observe the members of the class of 1956 in classrooms, at games, at the cafeteria, and on too few occasions, in personal contacts. Most of the members of the class seem to me to have learned many of the things that tend to make individuals good citizens. You study well, play hard, and have learned to conform to the rules of school discipline. However, now that you are ready to leave school for the larger work-a-day world, I hope that you will be able to raise your sights above the level of covering ground in a textbook, above the level of learning just to pass an examination, and getting by, and above the idea of schooling as something to go through and leave behind on Commencement Day. We at Saxton-Liberty would like to think that we may in some small way have contributed to your preparation for living. Harvey A. Davis Supervising Principal You, the graduating class of 1956, are entering a world where so much, including your very lives, is based almost wholly on some aspect of Science. Undoubtedly, during the remaining years of your lives. Science will bring such miraculous changes that life as you knew it in the Saxton-Liberty High School (1952 -1956) will seem antiquated. On the other hand, Science will never replace or be a worthy sub- stitute for the lasting friendships de- veloped by you among both the stu- dents and teachers in our high school. Realizing that such things as these are eternal, you should always keep in contact with your Alma Mater and visit it when convenient. G. Allen Hoover High School Principal
