Class lstory Freshman Year On the second day of September an ambltlous group of nmety seven members entered the doors of S L H S to become the Greenles of n1neteen hundred forty seven After we became acquamted wlth one another our f1rst steps were to orgamze our class and elect the followmg offlcers Jack McCahan Pres1dent Mary Scarcla VICE Pres1dent Allce Hess Secretary Nancy Scarcla Treasurer and Nancy Tenley H15 torlan Undertaklng the task of advlsmg th1s new blood were Mrs Hooper Mr Gates and Mr Brumbaugh Our class was well represented 1n both the athletlc and muslc departments Two of the pepp1est glrls of our class were se lected to be cheerleaders Maureen McMur tr1e and Hazel Worthmg In Aprll after much plannlng and work we were hosts to the upper classmen at an Aprll Showers Party For the event the audltorxum was transformed 1nto a lovely sprlng garden We were very much thrllled at the success of our f1rst party at S L Our year as Greenles was such an in terestmg one that we looked forward to havlng an even better class as Sophomores Sophomore Year As sophomores our group of elghty four felt much more confldent as they started thelr second year of hlgh school Our class advlsors were Mrs Hooper MISS Gearhart and Mr Gates and under thexr dlrectlon we got down to business and elected the follow1ng offlcers Calvm Elder Pres1dent Jack Reed V1ce Plesldent Janet HlH1Sh Secretary and Greta H1m6S Treas urer Everyone had a swell tlme at both of the skatlng partles our class sponsored at Cypher Beach 4Has anyone flgured who was supportlng whom ln that skatlng duo of Mrs Wa1te and M1ss Hoover'11 The Sadre Hawklns Day Party ln Novem ber was a b1g event of our Sophomore year The glrls presented thelr dates wlth vege table corsages and rewards for the n1cest corsage and most or1g1nal costumes were awarded In May a Box Soclal was held to a1d our treasury The boys enjoyed the lunches prepared by thexr heart throbs and every one had a wonderful tlme As the chmax of a year Wh1Ch wlll al ways be remembered we held a pxcnlc at Lakemont Park on the last day of school Junlor Year On the flfth day of September after three months of vacation an eager group of exghty came back to S L H S to claxm thelr place as the dlgfllfled JUIIIOIS Early ln the term wrth Mr Gates and M1ss Gearhart as class advlsors we settled down and elected offlcers James W1ll1ams Pres1dent James Musser Vxce Presldent Greta Hxmes Secretary and Jane Meck Treasurer Durmg the f1rst part of the year we were kept busy wxth the refreshment stand for home games Football cheerleadmg and band kept many of our members occupled but we st1ll had tlme for the annual Hallo ween Party A group of amusmg characters turned out for th1s party They along wlth games and danclng topped Wlth dehclous refreshments helped to make It a grand affalr Both boys and glrls returned after the Chr1stmas vacatxon ready to part1c1pate ln the Chorus Ten Tones and basketball In Apr1l our most cherlshed possess1ons our class rlngs arrlved The Junlor Sen1or Prom was our fmal and most lmportant event of the year Wlth the theme The Lure of the Woodland and and the muslc of Allen Snare the evenrng was an enjoyable one that w1ll l1nger 1n our memory Full of enthuslasm and anxlous to be come the Senxors of 1951 we f1n1shed our Junlor year ln S L H S Semor Year On September 6 1950 seventy two sophlstlcated SEUIOTS returned to take thelr last crack at S L H S We soon dlscovered that we had more to do than go around looklng lmportant so after the novelty of teaslng the Greenles wore off we settled down to study and really enjoy our last hlgh school year W1th M1ss Gearhart and Mr Gates as our class advlsors we lmmedlately elected the follow1ng class offlcers Calvm Elder Pres1dent Jlm W1ll1ams Vlce Pres1dent Greta Hlmes Secretary Jane Meek Treas urer Our yearbook The Block was begun under the capable d1rect1on of M1ss Gear hart and Mr Gates whose help was greatly appreclated Greta Hrmes made an excellent Edltor ln Chlef S1nce th1S was our last year we were anx1ous to make lt a blg one We staged a very successful Sadle Hawkins Day Party 1n November and on December 20 we had the annual Chr1stmas party Wlth Sprlng came the excltement of the class play Its a Date our very dellghtful and educatlonal trip to Washmgton D C and the Junlor Sen1or Prom Then all too soon Baccalaureate and Commencement brought to a close our four years of happy hlgh school days and a group of proud but reluctant graduates bade farewell to thelr Alma Mater o , . . . . 1 . 1 .1 - 11 - j ' ' 1 1 1 1 . .
