Savoy Students Participate Bertha McCannon. Diane James, and Becky Blook took homemaking at the Area Vocational School in Bonham, Texas. They made many useful things for their own use and for other people. This course made school more enjoyable for these young ladies. Tommy Myers and Glenn Block also participated in the vocational program for young men. Glenn worked for Mr. Bill Waggoner and learned a great deal about hogs. Sandy Corzine, Susan Whitfield, Char- lene Robinson, Barbara Ricker, Beckie Whitmire, Donna Jackson, Shirley Burks, and Marsha Epperson took Cosmetology at the Area Vocational School. Beckie Whit- mire, Barbara Ricker, and Shirley Burks are eligible to take the State Board Exam- ination. Senior boys Donnie Lankford, Steve Monroe, Gerald McLarry, and Bill Barron took Building Trades. Their project for the year was to build a house. Leslie Bassham took auto mechanics; Walter Purdy, Jerry Reynolds, and Mickey Apple- gate took radio and television. Rosemary Caylor took a nursing course. 28

Country Is. . . The Junior class entertained the Senior Class and guests with a banquet at Ramada Inn in Sherman, Texas on March 12. The theme Country Is was carried out by using red plaid tablecloths on the banquet tables. In the center of the tables guitar centerpieces were placed, and a kerosene lamp was spaced between each centerpiece. The guitar tooth picks, which were stuck into the desert, served as a decoration for the desert course. Saddles and hay added to the country-western atmosphere for the banquet. The wish- ing well and lily pool were used as the background for the individual and group pictures. Cowpuncher Moore gave the welcome and invocation. Dungaree Jackson thanked the senior class for an enjoyable evening. Longhorn Sanders made some comments about What Is Country. Bulldogger Lankford gave the class will for the senior class. Bowlegged Corzine prophesied what the senior class would do in the future. Calico Ferguson intro- duced The Midnight Hour Band, who entertained the group with some country-western music. a. Are they eating or playing? b. Wouldn't you know it, Donna and Gwen are first in line. c. The Midnight Hour Band: Gary Van- deventer, Alan Vandeventer, James Adair, and Shane Lorance. d. Hey, look at my book! e. The Senior Class of 1977. f. A coun- try way of life. g. Beth made a speech before dinner, h. Steve and Mrs. Price would rather pose than eat. i. The Junior Class! j. Mr. Dodson waits patiently for his food. 30
