One fine day in the early spring . . . the very early spring . . . those of us on the yearbook staff decided we needed a change of environment, and since there were dead- lines to be met, we were forced to continue our work in the new location. The change in setting, shown above, seemed to create new incentive, and we returned to our cubby- hole in Room 4 with renewed vigor. As we continued working on the Cardinal, we found that the help of many people was needed, if your yearbook was to be a success. To these people, we wish to express our deepest appreciation . . . Mr. Robert Hodges, our superintendent, for being patient and understanding, Mr. Joe Dodson, our principal, for co-operating in every way, Mrs. Robert Feagan, our advisor, for helping us when problems arose, Mr. George Hight, for his photographic contributions, Taylor-Made Yearbook for their interest and advice. (in (the i$tuftente: You ate the next generation clinging to a narrow ledge called life, just as each generation has clung to their renewal of civilization. Civili- zation lives and dies on the narrow ledge of human hearts and minds of any given age. You cannot do much for the school, until first of all, you have done something for yourselves. Remember, yesterday is a canceled check; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the cash you have; spend it wisely. Sincerely, Mr. Robert F. Hodges Superintendent (In (The 'uftgnte As a friend interested in your welfare, I take this opportunity to make a few comments and suggestions which may be helpful to you. You have to be something - that is an American opportunity - a chance to take part in the pattern of democracy. In the United States it is believed that the individual citizen who thinks, votes, speaks, and acts according to his best judge- ment is the keystone of our democracy. By taking an active interest in school, you will enable yourself to formulate an understanding of your future and to practice initiative and responsibilities, that turn to the ends of human betterment. What something do you wish to be? There is no better time to start being than now. Sincerely, Joe L. Dodson Principal (Our MR. ROBERT F.
