Cates l TYPIST Margaret Ryon • SPONSOR Miss Anna Belle Pierce Dedication In memory of Mr. one of the best loved members of Savoy High School Faculty, we, the Seniors of 1950, dedicate this yearbook. Of The 1950 Cardinal This great person was not only a teacher and superintendent, but he was a great friend to everyone. He was always ready to be of service. When you needed advice concerning school work or personal problems he was always ready to lend a helping hand. If you were a student you were taught in the best way possible. If you were a teacher you received complete cooperation from him. He was always greatly concerned with his responsibilities. If you were just an ordinary citizen you would always receive a cheerful word from Mr. Moulton. We are proud to have the honor of dedicating this yearbook of 1950 to such a worthy friend and former Superintendent of Savoy. A Message From Supt. Nelson To The Student Body TODAY'S YOUTH AND TOMORROW'S WORLD! What a challenge to the youth of today. It is a challenge to the Parents, Teachers and Students. He must be a better student of world affairs, he must be able to think and talk the language of educated men and women, he must be able to make quick decisions, and be alert to opportunities as they may arise. In other words, it takes more education, more in- telligent work, greater vision, and more concentrated and consecrated effort to succeed today than it did twenty years ago. We believe that the homes, churches, community, and the school in Savoy are joining forces in preparing the youth of Savoy for the responsibilities of adult living. Let us keep up the good work and in time we shall see better homes, churches, communtiies and a better Savoy. Editors’ Note In this the 1950 Cardinal, it has been our purpose to create a year- book which is truly representative of life at Savoy School. A high school yearbook is often the only album one has of his school days, the only record of, perhaps the most eventful years of life. If this edition of the Cardinal records the composite picture of the year in permanent form so that in the future it may be re-lived in the minds and hearts of all who tread her alma mater's soil, then we shall be justly rewarded for our efforts. We present the 1950 Cardinal to the student body for whom it was created and from whom inspiration came to build its pattern. ■ MAX ARTERBERRY VERNON MULLICAN EARNEST RINO WELDON NELSON Superintendent S.
