Powell Lahorzltori School serves a two-fold purpose at Georgia State College. ln terms ot the child, it offers edu- cational opportunities to lioys and girls who live in the col- lege area. For them, the school seeks to olter such experi- ences which are conducive to good mental, social, and phy- sical development. Every' ehiort is made to secure the serv- ices of well-trained and professional teachers who can project :1 modern program of elementary education. Un the other hand, the name Lll!lflI'IlffIl'Y1' Srflonl implies that the program further provides guided practice experi- ences for college students who major in elementary educa- tion. Lvnder the supervision of alert teachers, these stu- dents learn the know how of actually putting into prac- tice the concepts and methods which they learn in their col- lege classes, thus coordinating the theoretical with the prac- tical.
