J UK . rf if Z'-I1 1 w ,tk The 1972-1973 year at Savannah was a period of constantly changing times. Many changes were physical, those the eye may see. The cafeteria was enlarged and used as study hall where the new pop and candy bar machines were placed. Card games were frequently played and pop and candy bars were consumed in large amounts. For the special education students, two new rooms were added that were made from the old library. In turn, the old study hall was turned into a new and more efficient library with an adjoining study center. The curriculum was increased with new and interesting subjects such as MASH, Mass Media, Plastics, and His- tory mini-courses. The new P.E. room was completed and used by wrestlers and many P.E. classes. New drinking fountains were added to the front lobby for the convenience of the stu- dents.'The new Ag room was enlarged and better equipped. New instruments were gained by the Physics and Chem- istry departments for SHS. In the month of December, the gym roof started to collapse, and had to be re- inforced to assure safety and security to all those who used it. This year def inately proved to have interesting and satisfactory changes for all concerned. li fi S TT' I. L-if .ff 5 -- P.,-: ihx As time goes on, I realize just what you've meant to me. Student life was spiced up with dances and as- semblies. For all home games, the cheerleaders put on pep assemblies. As shown on this page the teachers entertained through one assembly. Skits were used to help raise spirit be- . fore a ball game. Paid assemblies en- lightened students lives with a variety of' talents and occupations. Examples of these are: a ventriloquist, the Missouri Western basketball team and the pastor from Kansas Penitentiary. Pep assemblies included skits, cheers, pom-pon girls performing, pep band and the Spirit Stick, which was given to the group or club that had proven their spirit. Dances at Savannah High livened up the night life of many stu- dents. They were highlighted with live bands. The band committee from student council chose the bands. Usually the dances took place after a home ball game, or for a special oc- casion such as Christmas, Valentines Day, Greaser Day, and Homecoming. .
