Payton, Farm Agent Pictured above are the Agricultural Extension Agents of Lenoir County, who work with Savannah School students in organized 4-H Clubs within the schools, as well as in the various communities. During the year there were four 4-H Clubs with a membership of 541. There were three district and 'two state winners from this group in 1962.

Ford Realizing that Science and Mathematics have presented many challenges from the period of Aristotle to this present day and that the two fields are growing in importance every day, the science and mathematics teachers at Savannah High School are corrobo- rating on the new approaches of modern mathematics and sciences through a media of research and problem-solving. Each year these teachers attempt to approach their sub- jects from a modern standpoint. In mathematics special emphasis is laid on formulas, equations, mathematical graphs, dependence, algebraic computations and trigonometric functions. The science classes are taught more of the research and of the knowledge hoped to be gained from its scientific approach or research.
