Today with its new buildings amid the beauty that only nature can possess, Country Day offers more than any text- book could ever teach a student. With this in mind, the Senior Class has chosen Outdoor Life for the theme of the annual in the hope that the student body will acquire a deeper appreciation of nature. To you, our successors, the Class of 1958 proudly presents the 1958 Cowntry Data. 2 DEOICATION - 4 CONTENTS HEADMASTER'S MESSAGE - 6 UPPER SCHOOL FACULTY -7 SENIORS - 13 UPPER SCHOOL CLASSES - 37 ORGANIZATIONS - 51 SPORTS - 59 FEATURES - 79 LOWER SCHOOL - 83 ADVERTISEMENTS - T00 Munn. DEIJICATIUN The Class of 1958 feels that the dedication of our annual can pay a tribute and express sincere thanks to someone who has been an inspiration to us and even more-a friend. Through this dedication we wish to show our appreciation and respect to the person whose personal example, enthusiasm, and ideals have contributed so much to moulding the character of Savannah Country Day School-Mr. Thomas Francis Triol. MR. THUMAS FRANCIS TRIUL Almost one hundred schools in various parts of our nation call themselves ucountry day schoolsw. The term came into being early in this century, when the country day school movement started. So many independent schools are boarding schools that those which are not, often have the word Hdayf' in their names. But a country', day school is something special. It is located just outside a city, in a rural or suburban area away from city noise, dirt, crowding, traffic, and turmoil. lts pupils are refreshed by natural beauty and quiet, by healthful fresh air and sunshine. The clean openness and tranquility that surround our new school will remain a part of the character of each boy and girl who lingers in this setting. ln the words of William Cullen Bryant: Co forth under the open sky, and list To Nature's teachings.
