The sounds you hear and the sights you see have been a part of life on this planet for generations. The decks that were once wood are now steel, and the radar that scans the distances of sea now aids the roving eye of the Bluejacket. Though technology has advanced through the ages, the vital element that makes any ship a living being has not changed - and that is the men who sail her. They are the tie that binds the old with the new. This ship represents many different professions that are associated with the sea. Each ship and each sailor has a unique story to tell. The ship that you are on board now has had a life of its own -and, like all others, has contributed to the history of the sea. Where the common tie of freedom holds countries together, the sea is a common bond shared by all sailors. We have a common language that is worldwide, which can only come from the experience of having met and bested the sea. Take a close look around your ship and feel free to ask any questions that might come to mind. We're proud of who we are and of what we do. Generations of great sailors have set the pattern for us to follow. It is by serving you in the spirit of freedom that makes it worth our while. Welcome Aboard! The Commanding Ofhcer
