Ilene Caneva - Author of the Year's Best Seller and twice Nobel prize winner. Kay Hagler - Hair Stylist whose exclusive salon draws patrons from Hollywood to the royal families of Europe. Janice Jonasen - U. S. Congresswoman whose persuasive oratory has been the deciding factor in passing many laws to improve our govemment. Mary Lou Lange - Actress of stage and screen whose talent rivals, if not surpasses the greatest of those before her. Gail Struckman - Pianist whose debut at Carnegie Hall was sensational and who has given command performances for two of our presidents and many royal families. Gary Basso - Engineer who designed world's largest bridge and many other outstanding structures. Mervin Darnall - Youngest lawyer ever appointed to U.S. Supreme Court. Dick Hedegaard - Co-owner and manager of the great King Ranch in Texas. Phillip Prigan - U.S. Ambassador to England and, rumor has it, one of our next presidental nominees. Tom Sluiter - Designer and test pilot of world's fastest jet planes. The wish of all who know them - that their lives may be at least as successful as this fantasy, and, above all, that each of them shall know happiness. IN THE STILL MORE DISTANT FUTURE The Class of Fifty-seven, met one day in Heaven St. Peter looked at them and said, According to the world-you're dead: Ilene - My task was writing books Idelle - Please, sir, Idesigned fashionsg thus satisfying clothes- hungry passions. Janice - I helped make rules and regulations: Those are my qualifica tions. Kay - l made other women beauti- ful: to their whims I was most duti- ful. Mary Lou - Altho much acting I have done: I limited my husbands to one. Gail - On Earth I was a pianist by profession: But learning the harp is now my obsession. Gary - The earthly structures that I built were wondetous affairs: Now, Sir, I'd gladly be the humblest polisher of these Golden Stairs. Mervin - A lawyer must live by his tongueg But this was the hardest case I won. Dick - The King Ranch made me rich indeed, However, to charity I've always paid heed. Phillip - Ambassador to England was my earthly part: On converting Satan I now will start. Tommy - I was a Jet Pilot in the sky: so I think on Angel Wings I can fly. Class Histor The class of '57 entered Savage High School, August 31, 1953 with fifteen mem- bers. Three of our classmates, Robert Sharbono, Alice Kassner and Everett Mitchell dropped out during the year. Our class activities consisted of getting initiated, paint- ing the S and giving a Sophomore retum party. Mrs. Larson was our class sponsor. We entered our Sophomore year with only ten members, Lorraine Forry and Donald Masvelten having moved away during the summer. This number was soon increased to eleven, however, when Kay Hagler transferred from Miles City at the semester. During the course of the year we initiated the freshmen, and put on the all school Prom using as our theme Old Mexico. Mr. Calkins was our class sponsor that year. We began our Junior year September 6, 1955 with an enrollment of eleven, which we have kept to this date. Mr. Kelly was our class sponsor and under his direction we presented our Junior Class Play Reserve Two For Murder and put on the Junior-Senior Banquet. We began our final year at Savage High on September 7, 19563 with Mr. Gundlach and Mr. Scott as our sponsors. Our Senior year activities consisted of putting on our Senior Class Play Hil1billy Weddin, directed by Mr. Kelly, getting our graduation pictures taken at Artice Studios in Williston, and most important of all Baccalaureate. which was held May 19, and Commencement exercises May 23, at the school gymna- sium. Ianice Ionasen and Gail Struckman were valedictorian and salutatorian respec- tively. Class Will We, the class of 1957, being of sound mind and body, do hereby make the following bequests: Mary Lou Lange wills her glasses to Patty Murray, her class ring to Billy Hedegaard, her ride to school to Bigfoot, and her dates to Sam Paladichuk. Kay l-lagler wills her ability to get along with people to Harvey Mitchell, her big feet to Jean Jonasen and her nice complexion to Bigfoot Lange. Dick l-ledegaard wills his bad temper to Louis Gundlach fif he needs it which he doubts if he doesj His side burns to Marilyn Nelson and his typing ability to Elaine Larson. Ilene Caneva wills her long hair to Phyllis Prigan, her quiemess to Lois Mitchell, her shortness to Sam Paladichuk, her typing ability to Sandra Will- ian, her small feet to Robert Lange, and her ability to learn something to the whole high school. Idelle Boyer wills her big feet to Patty Murray, her ability to get out of trouble in a hurry to the Freshman Class, her ability to draw to the future artist of the paper, and her ability to type to Bigfoot Lange. Janice Jonasen wills her glasses to Esther Vallejo, her good grades to Delton Christman, her trumpet to Betty Herman, her typing ability to Gary Schlenz, her annual job to Jean Jonasen and her Pep Club President job to Patty Murray. Gary Basso wills his good grades to Sam Paladichuk, his athletic ability to Harvey Mitchell, his editors job to Charles Reisig, his bad habits to Phyllis Prigan and his good ones to Lane, and his trumpet to Carl M. so he can blow reveille in the morning. Mervin Darnall wills his grades to Charles Reisig, his trombone playing to Harley Wuest, his ford to Sandra Willian, his ability to get by to Lane Basso, and his ambition to Donnie Hagler. Tom Sluiter wills his athletic ability to Gary Schlenz, his fancy shirts to Billy Hedegaard, his figure to Sandra Willian, his long hair to the CAT, his lepard socks to Mr. Scott, his ability to get good grades to Bigfoot, Qhe needs themy his pickup to anyone who hauls straw. He also wills his pianistict ability to Elaine Larson, and his appetite to Mrs. Helibichuk. Gail Struckman wills her driving ability to Marian Drury, her clever hair cut to Jean Jonasen, her clarinet to Marilyn Nelson, her hitch-hiking ability to Esther Vallejo, and her mean pranks to Patty Murray and Delton Christman 1 experienced handsy.
