The Savage Herald and Examiner May 20, 1976 - - - By Walter I-linchell, Reporter Items of Interest on Successful Men Twenty Years Out of School. Every paper in the U. S. carried headlines today of the retirement of the five-star General Carl The Conqueror Etzel. It was a blow to the armed forces to lose the services of this brilliant soldier. Mr. Wesley DeMille Madsen has just completed the last link in his nation-wide chain of luxurious theatres by constructing the new S5, 000, 000 Roxy Theatre in Savage, Montana. Kermeth Bronc Buster' Brose has just established a new record by winning for the tenth consecutive year the title of All Around Cowboy of the World. Mr. Steve Sugar King Rice has finally attained his 1ong-dreamed- of goal of raising 100 tons of sugar beets to the acre on his million acre farm in the Yellowstone Valley. Frank The Babe LaFreniere has broken the first Babe's record by slugging 122 home-rims over the center field walls during the past season. Every Major League team in the U.S. is bargaining for his next year's contract. Marvin The Speedster Lange today set a new record on the Indianapolis Speedway by attaining the phenomenal speed of 320 m. p. h. The car he drove was designed by himself. And last, but not least, we are proud to report that Robert The Shiek Johnson has been awarded his sixth Oscarg this time for his performance in The Cry of the wild Goose. W. In 1952 we started out our freshman year with sixteen students in the class. There were four girls, and twelve boys. We were initiated on Friday, September 19, 1952. We painted the S in May, 1953, In November, Harriett Mitchell was elected Carnival Queen. Shortly after this, Harriett Mitchell and Shirley Mitchell quit school. At the end of the first semester Daniel Adams moved to Sidney to attend school there. This left only thirteen pupils in the freshman class, our sponsor was Mr. Cornish. In 1953 we started our Sophomore year with twelve pupils, Monte Gable quit because of work at home. We also lost Jim Iimison in April, and Betty Io Redding left us at the end of our Sophomore year to get married. On the first of April, we started working on the Jun- ior-Senior Prom. Our theme Moon1ight and Roses. Our Prom would never have been a success without the help of our sponsor, Mr. Cor- nish. ln 1954 we entered our Junior year with only ten members left. Gracia Helland moved to Shepherd, Montana. The next to leave us was Richard Stordahlg he moved to Alexander, North Dakota. We put on our Junior Class play, Where Is the Fire, under the guidance of Mrs. Hammer. As our sponsor, she helped us arrange the Junior-Senior Banquet: our theme was Old Mexico. We are Seniors now and there are only seven of us left. Jim Rahn left us during the summer, he moved to Staples, Minnesota. We put on an all-school party on January 6. We had our pictures taken on Friday, November 18. We put on the Senior Class Play, Just Ducky under the direction of Mr. Kelly, on November 12. Baccalaureate exercises were held on May 13, and we were grad- uated on the evening of May 17. Kenneth Brose was Valedictorian and Robert Johnson Salutatorian. 6!44470dZ We, the class of 1956, being of sound mind and body, do hereby make the following bequests: I, Marvin Lange, will my girl friends to Big Foot, my Ford to Gary Basso and Marilyn Nelson, my whiskers to Sheryll Price, and my ability to do good work in shop to Phillip Prigan, I, Frank LaFreniere, will my choo-che-coo to Mary Lou Lange, my ability to goof off to Harvey Mitchell, and my janitor's job to Gary Schlenz.
