Its warmth and light have held the promise of new accomplishments and blazing endeavors. Around the Saghdaquadah campfire, the Indians of Sauquoit have piled the roaring flames high with effort. Our scholastic achievements and activities have been fueled to make the life of our school flame brilliantly in the eyes of others. Pride in their school for a Lmited spirit of the student body has characterized the Sau- quoit Indians and will do so in the years to come. Bright-flaming, heat full fire the source of motion Du Bartas May our fires continue to give motion to our lives and lead us on a brighter fulfillment of our dreams. As a teacher, class advisor, and director of many extracurricular activities, she has proved herself a vital part of our senior year. It is, then, with great- est respect, that we dedicate this book to MRS. HELENE PRICHARD. T if-37 . ,jf , ,uk ' 'XL , 1, ,A 6 . It is indeed a pleasure to extend my very best wishes for continued success to you, the class of 1966. During your school career, your parents and teachers have been preparing you for this moment. What you choose to do with this preparation will determine what direction your life shall take. It is my sincere desire that you continue to grow, to learn, to discover and above all, to enjoy life. Good luck, George E. The days ahead are yours! If the world is to be rebuilt, it won't be done by those people who are either complacent, cynical or pessimistic! But, the world of tomorrow will be shaped by those of you who believe that a better world is possible and you are willing to make those sacrifices necessary to achieve this ob- jective. To move from high school to college, or directly out into the world of work, demands that each of you take time out for self-assessment. lt was Oliver Wendell Holmes who said, lt matters not so much where a man stands as it does in what direction he is headed! The initiative must be yours. lt will be your attitude, your desire, your self-discipline, your fresh ideas, and your enthusiasm that will make the difference. Let each become all he is capable of being. The individual talents and abilities you possess are God-given. Your parents and your teachers have tried to help you to help your- self in getting underway with the development of those talents and abilities. Whether or not you take advantage of the opportunities you have in entirely up to you. In order to succeed in whatever field of work you may choose, you must put forth more than a feeble effort - you must give it all you've got. Several years ago it was Winston Churchill who said, The price of greatness is responsibility. So, in whatever you may do in life, remember that if you are going to be the best, you must aspire to be the best. As you receive your diplomas today, I would ask that each one of you resolve to dedicate your best efforts to something that makes life a little better. It will be in your quest to help make this a better world in which to live, that you will find your greatest joy and satisfaction as you work with and serve your fellowman. Congratulations to all of you on your graduation! And now - as we bid you farewell, please take our best wishes for success with you! .iff ' Supervising Principal Good Luck and God Speed! The Student Council is an organization designed, in part, to provide and regulate school activities. This year 's council has proved itself particularly busy. Of most im- portance was the welcoming of Miss Clelia F. deOliveira, our 1965-66 Foreign Exchange Student from Brazil. Council also co-sponsored an AFS day to further broaden our contact with people from other lands. ln addition, the Student Council decorated the halls at Christmas time to add the holiday spirit to our school. This year 's Red 85 White Week- end included the traditional bonfire, the motorcade, and Saturday 's exciting game defeating Cooperstown, followed by the Victory dance at which Fred Morgan reigned as King, Nancy Sweezey as Queen, and Clelia deOliveira as our Good Luck Charm. Homecoming Weekend also provided much school spirit for the game against New York Mills. Activities included a dance with the theme Swish and Swing and the selling of Maurice the Mauler badges.
