Ludwig And Sherman Were Top Scorers The 1959 Blue Devils started their football conference games with three straight wins, easily knocking over Negaunee, Stevenson, and Glad- stone. However, in their next two battles they fell hard when Traverse City (not in conference) and Escanaba both handed them hard-driven shutouts. Under coaches Ludwig and Dubow, co-cap- tains Ken VanLuven and Carl Lackey led the Blue Devils to a glorious homecoming as they toppled the Ishpeming Hematites, 13-6. Defeat followed victory when the Devils journeyed to Marquette; the Redmen trounced them, 47-6. Although our Blue Devils missed top honors, they still outscored their opponents 86-73. High scorer of the season was Tom Ludwig, a junior, whose tally whas 36. Pete Donnelly and Jerry O ' Jibway tied for second place with totals of 12 points each. A a a rH BEE TEAM FOOTBALL.
