SCHOOL BOARD Mrs. Gruber, Mr. Ploetz, Mrs. Sprecher, Mr. Poppy, Mr. Platt, Mr. Ballweg, Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Fradette. The school board is the link between the administrative head of the school and the taxpayers. The function of the school board is to formulate the policies for governing the school. It has control over all the fiscal needs of the school, subject to the approval of the annual budget by the taxpayers at the annual school meeting. A school board is usually confronted with a variety of problems. The modernization of present buildings, the planning and building of new ones to meet the needs of increased enrollment, and the awarding of teacher contracts are just a few of the important tasks. To the school board falls the re- sponsibility of using public funds in a beneficial way. At the present time, the board and Mr. Poppy have been involved in the planning of our new Sauk-Prairie high school. A merger such as this is important to the educational progress of our two villages. Members of the school board are: Mr. Ray Platt, President; Mrs. Leah Gruber, Treasurer; and Mr. Ralph Marquardt, Clerk. Other members are: Mrs. Argent Sprecher, Mr. Wendelin Ballweg, Mr. Charles Ploetz, and Mr. Mack Fradette.
