The Senior class of 1963 presents the final Sauk Log. Editors: Annalee Fradette George Hicks Assistant Editors: Susan Naffz Patricia Miller DEDICATION We, the Senior Class of 1963, dedicate this, our last annual to the Sauk High Alumni. The classes that have graduated from our small, but happy, high school have produced outstanding athletes, distinguished authors, doctors, lawyere, businessmen, and above all, honorable citizens in all walks of life. KENNETH POPPY Superintendent Responsibility for the administration of the entire Sauk-Prairie School System has been the constant work of Mr. Kenneth Poppy, our Superintendent. In addition to his usual duties, he has also had the task of working with the architects and school board in the planning of our new Sauk-Prairie High School. ADMINISTRATION WILLIAM E. LEAHY Sauk High Principal With Mr. William E. Leahy, our faithful and ded- icated principal lies the responsibility of encourag- ing students to become reliable and dependable citizens who will possess appropriate attitudes, knowledge, and creative intelligence to meet life's problems as they take their place in society. Sponsored by ZIMMERMAN FURNITURE SCHOOL BOARD Mrs. Gruber, Mr. Ploetz, Mrs. Sprecher, Mr. Poppy, Mr. Platt, Mr. Ballweg, Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Fradette. The school board is the link between the administrative head of the school and the taxpayers. The function of the school board is to formulate the policies for governing the school. It has control over all the fiscal needs of the school, subject to the approval of the annual budget by the taxpayers at the annual school meeting. A school board is usually confronted with a variety of problems. The modernization of present buildings, the planning and building of new ones to meet the needs of increased enrollment, and the awarding of teacher contracts are just a few of the important tasks. To the school board falls the re- sponsibility of using public funds in a beneficial way. At the present time, the board and Mr. Poppy have been involved in the planning of our new Sauk-Prairie high school. A merger such as this is important to the educational progress of our two villages. Members of the school board are: Mr. Ray Platt, President; Mrs. Leah Gruber, Treasurer; and Mr. Ralph Marquardt, Clerk. Other members are: Mrs. Argent Sprecher, Mr. Wendelin Ballweg, Mr. Charles Ploetz, and Mr. Mack Fradette. Janiltg K. BAUGRUD Ind. Arts Handicrafts Homecoming Sophomore Class R. Through the rest of the season, we took our lumps and bumps. However, we managed to regain our early form in pasting Mazo. 32-6 in the season finale. Although our record left something to be desired, we did manage to produce the leagues leading scorer in Rodney Von Behren, and we placed five players on the All Conference team, including two on the first team. Sponsored by COAST TO COAST HARDWARB Our own Rodney Von Behren, was the leading scorer in the Tri-County league and also was named to the first team, A11-conference. Rod could easily have scored more points, but due to a bad leg injury he was forced to see limited action in the latter portion of the season. 'Gotcha All Right! Who Stole The Football? TOP ROW: R.
