Plans for our Junior Prom were started just before Christ- mas. and we were busy as we anxiously prepared for the big night of May 10th. Many of the Juniors took part in various extracurricular activities offered by the school. Everyone profited by belong- ing to these organizations and enjoyed them as well. We are looking forward to our last year with the hopes that the guidance we receive will better us for our future careers. Sponsor: QUALITY CLEANERS SOPHOMORES Fifty-one former freshmen returned to Sauk High as sophomores with great expectations of the school year ahead. Their activities during the past year indicated how much enthusiasm they really had. Initiation sponsored by the class for the freshmen in the latter part of September was a big success. The freshmen proved to be good sports by giving a return “Sadie Hawkins’’ dance. All the sophomores seemed to haveprofited from the new schedule started this past year. As summer vacation nears the sophomores look forward to their junior year in the hope that it will be as successful as their past year. A DAY AT SAUK HIGH” PLAYING r 'XI October 19, Homecoming Day at Sauk City, was a nice warm fall day. Our band did some fancy steps as they led the afternoon parade of King Jerry Preston and Queen Jo Ann Maier, their court, and the floats of the classes and various organizations. Evening activities began with a snake dance, with students going through the main part of town and ending at the ballpark where the bonfire was held. The band and cheerleaders got everyone in the mood for the big game. Kick-off time was at 7:30. King Jerry and CXieen JoAnn were presented during the half-time ceremonies. The fighting Cardinals then had a score of 41-0 and kept scoring the second half, with the game ending 62-6. Canadian Sunset was the theme of the Homecoming Dance. Scenes with a setting sun decorated the walls. The gym resembled a Canadian scene with trees, fences, sleds, ducks, mountains, and other outdoor objects used to make it realistic. The music was furnished by Larry and His Rhythm Masters. The court of honor included Marilyn Crapser, Tom Schmit, Karen Bongard, Larry Breunig, Bernie Frey, Stan Frosch, Andy Lee Montgomery, Jack Breunig, Sheila Grauvogl, Daryl Sorg, Patsy Frey, Eddy Miller, Bev Schara, and Tom Endres. Dan Bruenig crowned Jerry as King, and he in turn crowned JoAnn as his CXieen.
