STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is an organization which gives the students a voice in the operation of the r-chool and attemi ts to make school life more pleasant. Its members are the class officers. Early in the school year, the Student Council undertook the operation of the school lunch program. In order to void confusion, they rrangec a seating chart and accepted the responsibility of collecting tickets and keeping order. In January, the question arose as to whether or not a candy machine should be installed In school. The machine was installed and the Student Council was responsible for its operation, with the proceeds to go into their fund. During November, the Student Council sponsored a hard time dance that was a huge success and plans ■'•re de for an ice skating arty, but warm weather prevented its being held. On Washington's Birthday, two plays, Washington's First Defeat and When George and Martha Returned, were directed and performed by members of the Student Counc il. The efficiency of this year's Council ..as the result of close cooperation among the members of the Council and by Jims hard work. Through their s, our school v. s improved and school life ran much more smoothly than it other- wise would.
