They were a good team and had a lot of young talent. They were led by Head Coach Mike Ginolfi, said to be the best coach in the league. His assistant coaches were Chris Serino, Mike Bontempo, Rich Salerno, Tom Rache and Mike Soper. [QaLi 21 The 1981 Golf Team led by senior captain Bob Medina had a tremendous season. The team finished with an undefeated record and had advanced to the State Cham- pionship. Special thanks goes to Mr. MacNeil for making the season so successful. Great team effort was displayed at all the games. The team was led by Mr. King. The team is looking forward to a better season next year. The team was led by Miss Bowdette and Miss Walker. All-stars for the team were Babe Emberley, Pam Thornton and alternate Linda Henderson. They faced many powerful teams and their strong effort led them to victories. Doing well for Saugus were Dan Murray and Kevin O ' Brian who made the All- I Star team. For first year Coach Munsen it was one of the team ' s best season ' s. The team had many wins and even though they lost some tough games, they displayed tremendous effort. Autum ' 81 was also marked by news of Poland and the air traffic con- trollers ' strike. Such songs as Start Me Up by the Rolling Stones and Centerfold by J. Geils topped the charts. Saugus High students flocked to see Raiders of the Lost Ark and Arthur . Other fall events included: The Great Donkey Hill Party, the Navy Band Concert, the first SHS magic show and the food fights during third lunch. Memories were in the making and our first impres- sions of being seniors were pleasant ones. 64 8b The Boys Basketball Team once again had another tremendous season finishing with a 13-8 record. Lead by team captains Dave Peach and Mark (Bird) Bertrand the team once again advanced to the State Championship, losing in overtime to Classical 62-60. Coach Soper is again credited for an outstanding team. WL — i c .. 1 BOYS 90 VARSITY HOCKEY The 81-82 Hockey Team had a great season. Lead by team captains Jim Quinlan, Dwayne Oxley, and Shaun Murray. The team was able to advance to the State Championship, winning their first game to Waltham but losing their second game to Woburn. Thanks goes to Coach Serino for making the team so successful. ✓ innn_ mi II I I 92 WINTER The winter season came and went, keeping us busy with the sports of hockey and basketball. Christmas concerts and New Year ' s Eve parties occupied the earlier part of the season, while the Winter Reception and Valentine Carnation Sale occured later that win- ter. We were now well into our senior year; gradu- ation seemed closer than ever. Meanwhile, the class of ' 82 became more united as the many memories and friendships took root.
