Further, sensitivity to other cultures and races Is a practical necessity for effective functioning In business and society. These are the tasks traditionally asked of the schools. In the word of  conditions of ■en- tree as the catalyst ion in society Horace Mann, Schools eniat serve as the great a quell tar the balance wheel of the social Machinery. It means obliterating, in a curious but real way, the ideas of evil and hate and the enemy, and transmuting them, with the alchemy of suffering, into ideas of clarity and charity. It means caring more and more about other people, at home and abroad, all over the earth. It means caring more about God. I hope we can love him more and more till we too die, and leave behind us, as He did, the love of love, the love of life. Frances Gunther IN MEMORIAM LISA POLESE 1955-1971 I cannot rest from travel: I will drink life to the lees: All the times I have enjoyed greatly, Have suffered greatly, both with those that loved me and alone; For always roaming with a hungry heart Much have I seen and known; cities of men and manners, climates, councils, governments Myself not least, but honored of them all; I am part of all that I have met. For my purpose holds to sail beyond the sunset And the baths of all the western stars until I die It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be that we shall touch the Happy Isles. Though much is taken, much abides And though we are not now that strength which in the old days moved earth and heaven; That which we are, we are. One equal temper of heroic hearts. Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. Scott Marcy On October 13, 1971 Scott fractured his neck during football practice. At the time, Scott was a starting defensive back on the Junior Varsity team and would have been a starting Varsity back on the 1972 team. After a series of operations, some rare, excellent treatment and care at Massachusetts General Hospital and the New England Rehabilitation Center, Scott returned to school, after winter vacation, quite adept at maneuvering his electric wheelchair. Scott, his parents and friends, must question why accidents of this nature occur to vibrant young people or to anyone at all. Not everyone would have had the determination and exemplary courage to fight back and make the progress Scott has made. With his fortitude and new findings in spinal cord research, Scott will continue to pro- gress. Scott and his family have set an example of courage and christian charity for the graduating class of 1973 and all of us. Coach Maguire 115 Football mem 1st row: John Wall, Douglas Doran. If you haven ' t made any yet, consider a job with today ' s Army. It ' s a chance to catch your breath. A chance to find out what you want out of life before plunging in. A chance to find yourself before beginning the daily routine of a regular |ob, or another four years of study. If you ' ve just finished high school, today ' s Army can be a rewarding pre-college alternative. More rewarding in many ways than pumping gas, bagging groceries, or marking time in the company stockroom. Today ' s Army is more than a place to mark time. It ' s a place where you can train, learn, have a responsible job, meet people, travel, and mature. Think of a job with today ' s Army not as an interruption in your life, but the beginning of a meaningful career. In the Army, or in civilian life.
