JMU ' Ii 6u ' !MKrr.NOEi r ANNA V. JACOBS AOMIMBTRA-JVB f Ci )UTA:-T To the Members of the Class of 1966: In a sense, your Senior year as students at Saugus High School is my Freshman year as Superintendent of Schools in this Town of Saugus . It is quite possible, therefore, that I should be accepting advice from you (for who does not recognise the superior wisdom of a Senior) rather than my expressing solemnly sage remarks as to how you might best cope with the problems of the future. I, personally, have sincere confidence in the ability of today ' s youth to adjust to the complexities of modern society and, so, I shall limit my remarks, here, to a simple expression of good fortune to all. W It is my earnest hope that the administrators an at Saugus High School have succeeded in challenging each of you, as individuals, to the degree that you are beginning to examine your own particular potential talents and will utilize to the fullest your own personal abilities whether you are to enter some kind of higher education or to immediately fcLc::- the problems of life. As Superintendent of Schools in Saugus, it s little bit more special to be wishing success to the members of the first class to graduate during my tenure of office and I do so with pride in your past accomplishments and anticipation of success in your future achievements. SMITH - Superintendent of Schools ■ ASHTON F. DAVIS. PRINCIPAL LEON C YOUNG. Vice Principal JOHN B. LEAHY. Vice PRINCIPAL dflUMNl SAUGUS HIGH SCHOOL SAUGUS. MASSACHUSETTS 01906 TeLIPHONE 233-4000 To the Members of the Class of 1966: My association with your class, as you know, has extended over a six-year period. While you were in junior high school I was your principal; then in 1962, when you entered high school, I moved along with you. It has been my privilege, accordingly, to observe your maturing dur- ing that full span of years that links childhood to young manhood and young womanhood. To me has been afforded the opportunity to witness your develop- ment physically, socially, and mentally, to follow your athletic attainments, to measure with pride your scholastic progress. Uw Now you are graduating. You are abandoning a relatively sheltered and guided existence for that period of life that offers greater independence and heivier responsibilities. You are emerging into a world that demands more than ever before a thorough preparation to insure economic security for the individual and requires an ever wiser understanding of th-s many issues, both foreign and domestic, that face our increasingly complex society. As a class you have often excelled. My observations of your progr daring the last six years give me assurance that you will meet your challenges aq :arely and that you will attain success. j| To each of you, best wishes as you enter the ranks of the alumni of Saugus High School. And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark. And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark ; For tho ' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar. Last but not least we would like to thank Miss Helen F. Towle for her guidance, patience, kindness, and understanding while we were working on the annual.
