The Football Cheer Rally on the Front Lawn The Team Go Through Their Setting-up Exercises at the '54 Rally. In preparation for the l954 football season, S. ll. S. staged a cheer rally on the front lawn during the fall. Members of the team, dressed in their new uniforms, came charging out onto the lawn in the double quick, as the student body waited in an informal circle. Prior to their arrival, the members of the cheering squad. un- der the direction of Miss Lorman, had the squad warm up the students with some preliminary cheers, Dr. Morse and Coach Straub spoke briefly. Then the captain of the cheer leaders took over and proceeded to build up the enthusiasm of the student group for at- tendance at the game. Football is like most other programs in that it has to have promoters to give it a push and keep it going. .X football team that doesnt have the support of the student body is not likely to succeed so well as one that is enthusiastically supported. Flihe cheer leaders consti- tute an important contribution to the whole show. Q55
