TheRE-building SEEsan The Saugatuck golf team finished a good season with a seventh place finish in the Class D state finals. This is excellent since they had to work together with a whole new team of Freshmen, helping finish the year in the tournament with a team total of 358. They gained a lot of experience and confidence this season, and they can make the finals again next year finishing a few notches higher with the help of Coach Dave Vonlns. Breakout 65 This year 23 seniors spent 4 days and 3 nights in Florida. One day was spent at Disney World, another at Daytona, then at Epcot Center, and the last day was a rainy one at Wet and Wild, where we left at 4:00 that afternoon for home. Everyone was glad they had gone. There are many great memories we all have from this senior trip. 5Eninr Trip The 96th Commen- cement exercises were held on June 3rd, 1983. There were 56 graduating seniors. For many it was both a happy and sad experience as the tears on a lot of faces showed. I'm sure none of us will forget our years at SHS. but as the speaker Arend Lub- bers, President of Grand Valley State, said, You must go ahead in life, have confidence in yourself and look ahead. ” Graduation 68 Breakout dj.......i_b Basio Programming : i----—I Jeff Baker Maggie Baker Tracey Bomb Terri Btok Andrea Calvo Keith Carper Pam Craig rim Hutchinson Jane Htrdes Rick Johnson Robin Jousma Donald Kas ten Patti Kety Cathy Laaksonen Betste Smith Atmee Thomas Tony Thomas Tammy Tyria 72 Basic Programming Kelli Crowder Roy Davis Julie Deike Cathy EicNer Toni Fiala Brad Fries Rhonda Graham Joe Lane Juke Lewis Fekcia Manthey Keky McKee ver Sharry Mitts George Saip Stacey Slighter Basic Programming 73 Basic Programming 75 76 Basic Programming Brian Baldiga Andrea Battjes Brent Birkhdz Tammi Blevins Jim Bones Chris Boyce Tracy Braman mi Mefonie Ferrell Sabina Fiske Michele Gannon Ken Grady Julie Greene Michete Helzer Lynn Higgs Paige McGrath Kathy McGregor Cindy Miles Wanda Montgomery JuHe Morse Missy Rininger Bruce Saip Suzette Sanchez Maria Schwerdt Eddie Seeback Dewey Storrett Dino TedakJt m rs 4 -jfer 5vOL Ii ® James Brown Ron Brown Steve Burns Kevin Carey Mike Carey Rod Engeisman Tim Ertandson W.J. The first activity this year was the seventh grade orientation before school started. This was to help them get used to the school. In the days that followed there were activities such as basketball for the girls, boys rocket football, and J. V. and Varsity home games to participate in. The students in band were very busy. They had a football game halftime show, a few concerts, and the Tulip Time, and Memorial Day parades This has been the first year of the National Junior Honor Society in Saugatuck. This year ten Junior High students were inducted. All in all with dances and classes and such it has been a very busy year for the Saugatuck Junior High. Kasten This year as Editor of the Compass has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my years at S. H. S. I've learned so much these last 4 years and especially what I've learned this year will help me in the year to come. A lot of hard work and hours are put in on the yearbook, but the fun times we had doing it makes it worth it S H. S is a unique school and I think it deserves to have one of the best books around.
