S.H.S. Bandsmen Go To Camp The Saugatuck High School Band, under the direction of Bud Morse, worked hard on the funda- mentals of marching and preliminary preparation for half time shows presented in the fall. Forty-six mem- bers attended Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and began rehearsals immediately. The camp is located in Muskegon County. A typical day included six hours of marching drills and concert rehearsals. It was not all work, though, because the remainder of the day was spent in re- creation and evening ac- tivities. Mr. Morse said that, “The improvement of the band is very rapid, and this years marching band looks like it will be one of our best ever. In this sort of setting, the band was able to ac- complish as much as they normally achieve in a week. Besides, it was a lot of fun. 20

But most of all they will be remembered for sharing in the victories and losses with the team, as a team; not as individual’s.” Seniors: Mike Baker, Dennis Tis- dale, Dave Bekken, George Gen- dron, Frank Biller, Bill McIntyre. 22
