Jensena Fiedler, math 7, intro, algebra Todd Greaves, life science 7 Alison Grieg, geography 7 Judy Gronemeyer, math 7, earth science 8, math department head Sue Hale, resource Sue Helzer, computer science Carolyn Hembree, English 9 Lee tloovey, math 8. general math 9 Teacher Feature Mrs. Gronemeyer asks students to explore Known as the teacher who wanted to be put into orbit ' Mrs. Gronemeyer offered her science students 100 extra points if they would write HASA recommending her as a passenger on the space shuttle. Obviously, she is not afraid to try something new. Her teaching career is evidence of that. She waited to go to college until her three children were old enough to stay home sick. How in her fourth year of teaching, Mrs. Gronemeyer has spent most of that time at SAIS-R. This year she taught two science classes, three math classes, and served as math department head and national Junior Honor Society sponsor. Mrs. Gronemeyer specialized in teaching in middle schools originally because that was the age of her children at that time, but she has found junior high students enjoyable. To her math students, she tried to stress that they have the ability to do math and it can be fun. She said a lot of students are scared of math. Working with a little levity, she showed them that math didn't have to be their worst subject. One sad piece of news she had to give her students this year was that her husband's work was finished and it was time for her to return to the United States. Mrs. Gronemeyer said she would miss this school and probably wouldn't find another like it. But she planned to follow her own advice to students to stop and smell the roses'' and look for the new opportunities for her in California. Junior High Fersonnel 93
