BAND HIGHLIGHTS B and The S.H.S. Band paraded for the Kansas State Fair and gave an outstanding band show for the Grand Stand evening performance. They were rated as one of the best bands there. There were 73 bands participating in the School Band Day at the Fair. The unique band shows for football and the floor shows for the basketball games were outstanding and spectacular. The band made out-of-town appearances at Liberal, Garden City, and Guymon, Oklahoma, receiving many fine ovations. They paraded in the Pioneer Day at Guymon and the Satanta Day Parade. The S.H.S. Band is divided into the Marching Band, the Concert Band, the Pep Band, and the Swing Band. The band was host to the High Plains League Instrumental reading Session. They also had the honor of being invited to participate at the ceremony, and give an evening concert at the Inauguration of Mr. George Docking for Governor at Topeka, Kansas. The Concert Band gave many fine concerts. They partici- pated in the League Band Clinic at Lakin and the District Music Festival at Dodge City. The band is rated as one of the best bands of the state. Many band students have the honor of receiving scholarships for music camp at Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas.
