ANNUAL PLAY DAYS REGINA The play day began at 10:00 o’clock, Saturday, March 7. Students met at Regina Teachers’ College and travelled by car to Lumsden where they won a game of hockey against Saskatoon Teachers College. Following the game the students from both colleges returne d to Regina for a reception in the S. T. C. auditorium. After this, they broke into their various groups for an afternoon of competition in volleyball, table tennis, badminton, bowling, curling, and basketball. For the first time, the intramural winners from the Universities at Regina and Saskatoon also took part in the play day. A banquet was held at the Regina Campus cafeteria at 6:00 p. m. In the evening the final competitions in basketball were held, with Regina S. T. C. victorious in both boys’ and girls’ events. Following this a dance was held in the auditorium, and at midnight the play day came to an end. SASKATOON At 6:00 o’clock on the morning of March 21, 1964, more than 100 hazy-eyed students from Regina gathered at the Teachers’ College where they boarded three buses bound for Saskatoon. This was the start of the second half of the annual home-and-home play days held by the Teachers ' Colleges at Regina and Saskatoon. At 10:00 a. m. the buses arrived at the Teachers’ College in Saskatoon. Here the Regina students were welcomed to Saskatoon at a short reception held in the S. T. C. auditorium. The athletes then divided into their various competing groups to spend the day in competitions similar to those held in Regina two weeks earlier. This day also ended with a dance at the Teachers’ College in Saskatoon; and at midnight weary Regina students said goodbye to their friends in Saskatoon and boarded their buses for the trip home. The highlight of both play days was the sportsmanship shown by each College both on and off the floor. Ron Samoluk Athletic Directorate
