Vtf9 HORNET BERNIE ELKINS - Editor BARBARA COLE - Associate Editor Foreword The school year 1961-62 was busy and active for Sarepta High students. Classes, athletics, meetings, all helped to round out the year. As we look back, we have tried to pick some of the bright spots that stand out in our minds as important events in the history of Sarepta High School; and with this in mind, we present to you your 1962 Hornet. D E D I C A T I 0 N THE HORNET STAFF proudly dedicate the 1962 HORNET to one who has for nineteen of his twenty-seven teaching years labored here at Sarepta High School. During these years he has consistently upheld the finest ideals of con¬ duct and the highest scholastic standards before his stu¬ dents. We join the hosts of former pupils who return to say from the bottom of their hearts, ’’Thank you, Mr. A. S. Perritt. Sincerely, The 1962 HORNET STAFF EDITOR: Bernie Elkins, Co-Editor: Barbara Cole. Before coming to Sarepta in 1954 he served as principal in Ansley, Evergreen, and Sibley. We know that again this year he would like to thank the community, the Webster Parish School Board, the teachers, and the students for another successful year, but this year we want instead to thank him for his leadership and friendship through these years. DONALD CRUMP LER, Co- Captain, Two Year Letterman, Quarterback Cotton Mask on the job at Haughton. Most of these boys had played football together since the fourth grade. From the eighth grade on it was evident that they possessed qualities which would make us proud of their performances. Four of their members: Bernie Elkins, John Ingle, Junior Mullins, and Billy Odom won All-District Honorable Mention, but many of the others also did excellent work. It took much practice, knowledge of the game, and a great desire to win to rack up a record of six wins, one tie, and only three losses. Their last game of the season gave us all a great lesson for our future in football as well as in life. If one will pay the price success will come his way.
