This year the band went to various contests and brought back numerous awards. At the Fifth Annual Lake Guntcrsvillc Marching Band Festival, the Flag Corps was given a superior rating and the band and Drum Majorette were each given an excellent rating. The band then par- ticiptcd in the Northeast Alabama Marching Classic Com- petition at Etowah High School. The Drum Majorette and the Flag Corps each received an excellent rating and the band received its first superior rating in eleven years. The band entertained the football crowd at halftime with Fiero, Velero. and The Party’s Over. These songs included solos by Autrey Sweatt, David Bone, Alan Storie, Craig Cor- nelius, and Jason Roe. Mr. Landrcth, Melinda, the section leaders, the flag cap- tains, and the band members themselves all deserve the credit for the hard work and effort that contributed to success. 19
