Homecoming is traditionally a time of Happiness and Festivi- ties, and the 79-80 Sardis Home- coming was certainly both. The school was brightened during the week with togas, overalls and crepe paper; and topped off with a great Pep Rally and Parade. The Senior Class won the float competition. The mighty Lions ripped Collinsville 42-20 in an exciting game. At halftime Page Hubbard was crowned Home- coming Queen. After the game the Juniors sponsored a Disco Dance. 9 Class 10 12th Grade: Lynda Gaskin and Barry West 8th Grade: Lulu Gaither and Barry Williams Favorites ■4 10th Grade: Sharon Winfrey and Phillip Taunton s e n ■ i o r Most Likely to Succeed: Scott Hall and Melissa Scott A Beauty and Beau: Tony Stomcher and Sandra Smith A A Best Personality: Donna Holliday and Kenneth Roden Most Studious: Connie Slaton and Paul Roe ▼ A Wittiest: Karen Brown and Gary Campbell P e r s o n A Most Athletic: Page Hubbard and Keith Wright a A Most School Spirit: Shelia Garner and Jimmy McCormick Most A Teacher’s Pet: Amy Hudgins and Mark Talton Best Mischievous: Vikki Harvey and Steve Cahela ▼ Dressed: Dawn Nunn and Kim Greer ▼ The Senior Class Dedicates 1980 Sardonian to Principal John Moore We the Senior Class of 1980 would like to honor our principal John Moore for his devotion to his job and to each student of Sardis High School by presenting to him the Sardonian dedication. Through his actions each day Mr. Moore proves his love and respect for each student. As seniors we have learned that he is always available to discuss our ideas or prob- lems. We know that he is con- cerned for us, and that he will respectfully listen to us and sincerely advise us. Mr. Moore shows no favorites. We are all treated equally. He is an enthusiastic supporter of all athletic programs and other school functions. People we know and people we knew. Growing together then drifting apart. Always an ending and now a new start. At graduation we all grow nearer. And all our friends seem so much dearer. As we say our final goodbye” Our last embrace and one more cry, A keep in touch” and a “promise I will, A remember when” but, better still, A place in my heart, you’ll always stay. This is what is said as we go our own way. 17 18 ava.v-v.TXvV Girls’ State Melissa Scott •Jtm wm w -a Boys’ State Mark Talton Keith Wright Top Ten Percent Mark Talton, Page Hubbard, Kim Hallmark, Jennifer Dobbs, Lisa Williams, Melissa Scott, Charlotte Gilbreath, Paul Roe. And now you stand, and want to learn to walk. Speaking the sentence you like best: I go!” Your hand in mine, the primal steps are taken. Between the chairs, across the oaken floors. My pride in you is not so great as yours; But yours will wane, and mine will not be shaken. Now I must learn to let you walk alone. Withdraw the mentor’s hand before it turns To weight that you must carry and bemoan. For love can be an anchor when it yearns To be a sail. And even pride, displayed. Can fast become a debt to be repaid. 30 This Yearbook Proudly Presented by the 1980 Sardonian Staff Jennifer Dobbs, Charlotte Gilbreath, Scott Hall, Kim Hallmark, Donna Holliday, Page Hubbard, Paul Roe, Melissa Scott, Mark Tal- ton, Lisa Williams, and Mrs. Jane Brittain. This staff worked hard to present the year as accurately as possible. All staff members sold ads and yearbooks, as well as planned pictures and layouts for each page. Their effort should be appreciated by all who cherish this book. 75 Standing: Melissa Yates Mary Mosley Gene Hill James Dobbins Laura Hall Mark Walker Brad Knight Bruce Naylor Kerry Gilliland Sitting: Angie Walker Lisa Samples Kathy Bowen Regina Campbell Rhonda Brand Brian Scott Brent Moon Shelia Childers Counselor Aids Standing: Gina Whitt Jan Maddox Anita Harper Mrs. Jane Brittain Pam Ramsey Emily Dobbs Middle: Lisa Battles Rhonda Brand Sitting: Melissa Scott Glenda Brand 76 Drama Tony Stonicher Sandra Smith Carolyn Strickland Julie Crawford Amy Hudgins Jeff Smith Vickie Lipscomb Renea Smith Julie Tucker Mark Thornhill Pam Patterson Bryan Centers Lee Sauls Jeri Marshall Stanley Nayler Vicki Barnes Kim Fox Leslie Lott Sherry McClung Neal Roe Melissa Bowen Donna Thompson Pam Ramsey Vicki Harvey The Drama class tries to offer a variety of drama productions during the academic year.
