Text from Pages 1 - 168 of the 1974 volume:

THE SENIOR CLASS OF SARDIS HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS THE 1974 8ARDONIAN Class of 7 I GAME HERE OCT. If PEOPLE. PEOPLE. PEOPLE People, we've got people . . . Miles and miles of people . . . doing things, saying things, whispering . . . people doing nothing, saying nothing, just being people. People smiling, people laughing, people sneering . . . people reflecting, doubting, pondering . . . people just being people. Highlighting the Homecoming Game was the long awaited coronation of the 1973-74 Homecoming Queen, Debra Huff, crowned by Mrs. Bonnie Mann, 1968-69 Homecoming Queen. Completing the regal line were 1 st alternate, Deb Mashburn, 2nd alternate, Donna Campbell, 1 1th grade representative, Denise Samples, 1 Oth grade representative, Judy Parks, and 9th grade representative, Vickie Washburn. Faces . . . pleasant, surprised, posed, and priceless. The faces of our friends . . . caught in a moment. . . captured for our memory. Raise on high those campus colors . . . To the old familiar cheer. . . For our gallant football heroes . . . Shall be proudly playing here . . . Join the roaring Friday rally . . . With your torches burning bright. . . For the students will be singing . . . Songs of victory that night. . . Greet our team with all your fervor. . . As it runs onto the field . . . With a grim determination . . . Not a single yard to yield . . . And remember when it's over. . . Cheer the victors from your seat. . . Though our gallant heroes . . . May have fallen in defeat. We come to school to learn about a truth we can meet and witness. And in searching for it, we find a common bond which ties us together with more strength. Our teachers help us to discover these truths through gentle persuasion and guidance, but most of all, we help each other by caring enough to give our time. HOME oj J u THE 1974 SARDONIAN STAFF PRESENTS THE SARDONIAN SARDIS HIGH SCHOOL Sponsor: Mrs. Carolyn Morton Editor: Susan Smith Co-Editor and Photography: Jeff King Business Manager: Martha Wrenn Features: Janice Bradley Sports: Barry Barksdale Classes: Cathy Burgess We the people of the 73-74 Sardonian Staff have captured the year in a book of pictures and writing — You the people must add the life, the feeling and the stirring of your memory. 18 DEDICATION Teacher — Sponsor — Friend — You have been of real service to the Senior Class and students at Sardis High School. You have sent joy and pleasure into our lives. Your advice mingled with words of encouragement and instructions helped to bind us closer with a lasting friendship. Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude for your willingness to devote so much of your time to help us along the way. In appreciation the Annual staff proudly dedicates the 1974 Sardonian to Mrs. Paula McDonald. Message to Seniors: The young people of today are standing on the threshold of their future and of their tomorrow. So many decisions must be made and so many problems must be solved. Sardis High School will help the student find the right direction that he or she must go. We will offer studies in all subjects as well as training for leadership, arts, sports activities, and vocational skills. The paths are here to travel, but you as the student must take the first step. And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea. But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell; When I embark. For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place. The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.
