Principal To you, the students of Sardis High School, in this year of our Lord Nineteen Hundred and Sixty-two, I direct these thoughts. You are indeed a fortunate group. As you read this, please pause and count your many blessings. First, be thankful for the privilege of living in a country where you are free to express your thoughts as you see them, either orally or written. You are free to read newspapers that are non-censored, free to enjoy life as it should be, and when you grow up you are free to choose the profession that you feel is best suited for you. It is a rare privilege to vote your convictions on any issue without someone telling you how to mark the ballot. You should always be humble and thankful that you live in a country that is of this nature, and free to worship in the church of your choice and the denomination of your choice. Always remember your duty as a free citizen of the world and perform that duty as you should. Most of all. remember the one responsible for all of this is a power greater than all of us and always serve Him and give thanks to the Almighty every day for this rare privilege.
