EDITOR Doris Johnson Foreword The Sardonian Staff, as members of the Senior Class, pause to recall the many years we have shared together. As you journey through the years to come, we hope each cherished memory of your high school days will be relived. Now as we look into the future may we be drawn closer together by the guidance and inspiration we have received here at Sardis High School. Jf ASSOCIATE EDITOR Joan Wilder AD MANAGER Judy Stonicher BUSINESS MGR. Jane Blackmon Dedication of New Building Left to right: Mr. R. C. McCulley, Mr, Frank R. Stewart, Mr. A1 Foxx, Mr. Stewart's son, Mr. RoyM. Whitt, and Mr. T. G. Smith, Jr. In April of 1960 the students of Sardis High School began moving into the new building. This was a long awaited occasion since the erection of the first senior high school building in 1933. Open house and dedication of the new building was held on May 1, 1960. We were fortunate to have with us our first principal, Mr. R. C. McCulley, State Superintendent of Education, Mr. Frank R. Stewart, and Mr. A1 Foxx, Gadsden Times Staff Writer, who participated in the dedication ceremonies. Mr. Roy Whitt, a past member of our local Board of Trustees and now a member of our Etowah County Board of Education, also took part in our activ- ities. Dedication We, the Senior Class of 1961, dedicate this volume of the Sardonian to Coach Eugene Holcomb for his untiring devotion to our athletic program as well as our scho- lastic activities. It is not only the title of Champs” which has made Coach beloved to us but his everlasting willingness to guide us and the friendly atmosphere with which he greets us. We only wish we could do more to express our gratitude and appreciation to you, our teacher, coach, and friend. Principal's Message I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the staff and sponsor of the Sardonian for producing another fine yearbook. The hard work put forth in developing this book Is only a small example of the wonderful spirit of work and co-operation shown by students and faculty of our school. The Sardonian is a reference to which one can turn to refresh the memory of activities of Sardis High. T. G. Smith, Jr. Principal facult  MRS. AUDREY D. BALES English Librarian A.
