For us the Class of T957 there will always be certain highlights of our four years together We shall never see Joe Campilango without remembering him as our first Mr President along with John Traver and Mariellen Patterson And how proud we were of those freshman pins' We re very grateful to our advisor John LeRoux for helping to keep us straight and to run that prize winning House of Fun at the Yorker Carnival Sophomore may mean foolish and wise but it was our wisdom that chose Tom Porter Kathy Sullivan and Mary Ellen LaDue as officers Miss Adele Bucci was our advisor and helped us promote our first dance The Lollypop Hop which was every bit as good as it sounds Tom Porter must have been a good choice as president for as iuniors we re elected him along with Larry Porter and Marty Riley Our class rings cost plenty but they re still worth it. This year it was Stanley Hicks who became our advisor. ln co-sponsorship with the Class of i956 we arranged the Junior- Senior Prom Ebb Tide . The whole class and the community cooperated in our AFS tag day and food sale and all of us envied a little but thrilled with Anne Van Rensselaer and Tim OConnor when they went to Finland and Switzerland under the AFS. After a vigorous and exciting campaign we elected Paul Harris to lead us in our final and most important year. Other officers are Dave Handy Marty Riley and Anne Van Rensselaer. Mrs. Marjorie Tibbetts is assisting Mr. Hicks as advisor. In November we held the annual Football Hop and we are anticipating a success- ful Basketball Hop. As this book goes to press we are making preparations for a class minstrel show in February. ln May and June will come the Prom our Senior Assembly and the class picnic. In June too we will be guests of the Alumni at their banquet. And on June 25, i957, we will be graduated from Saratoga High, with pride and sorrow, pride because we have received a good education and are about to begin new careers or collegeg sorrow because we will be leaving SHS wtih fond remembrances of good times and many friends. This organiza- tion has tried to bring to the attention of the faculty problems of the students, and to help the students understand the views of the faculty. The Council's biggest project since 1950 has been sponsor- ing the American Field Service program. They have also this year provided transportation to out-of-town games, helped the Hungarian boys get acquainted, and entertained the Golden Age Club. The president has been a member of the executive com- mittee ot the High School Parent Teachers Student Organiza- tion, and council members have participated in two meetings .Sr of this group, a panel discussion on community recreation for teen-agers and a talent night. The Christmas, Historical, and Easter plays are all written and directed by Mr, MacGregor. Students from all classes in high school and often from grade schools comprise the casts. These presentations generally consist of a dramatic situation based on the holiday to be celebrated and a colorful, impressive pageant. Mrs. Mary Richardson, who occasionally participates in Spa Theater productions, plans and supplies the costumes, and expertly applies make-up. Home Eco- nomics classes are called on when there are variations in interior decorating, while Art Class members assist in design- ing and painting sets. The hard-working stage crew not only builds the realistic settings, but manages all lighting and scene shifts during productions. Truly our plays represent cooperative effort. I cfs Amd! Graul. itbfcmta , DANCING is one of the most popular activities in SHS. The suc- cess of the dances this year is proof of that. Each class and most of the organizations put on dances, and the profits are added to their treasuries. Some groups save money by using the luke box for music. Others hire local disc jockeys to spin records, at times SHS boys have taken over the iob. Refresh- ments usually go with admission, but for extra special eats, there's a chance for a little more profit. For those who eat in the cafeteria, there is noon hour dancing on Fridays. ln the fall the eighth graders were taught to dance at noon in the armory. The girls square dance in gym classes, while the boys Cwith a few girls to help? had a chance to learn the waltz and fox trot. Everyone is looking forward to next year when there will be dancing in the new gym to any music we want, piped in. 34 J , 3,6 N giw Q Nfg 5 ai' Q, ,L :W 41 1: 4.
