Football Coach Tibbetts' boys, .after being downed by the Glens Falls Indians 20-12 in the season's opener, swept through the Eastern B League to cop the trophy with a record of 6-1. The Streaks upset Vincentian at Hawkins Stadium 12-6, playing terrific ball. Scotia and Draper were blanked in turn by S.H.S., 40-0 and 41-0. Mechanicville showed little power against Saratoga, winding up on the short end of a 45-12 score. Led by Co-Captains Hutch Tibbetts and Bruce Ribley, the Blue Streaks struck Delmar for the long end of a 28-12 tally, and the next week Johnstown, the last surviving league team, fell under the axe to the tune of a 28-0 defeat. Because of the lateness of the season, no playoff game was scheduled with the Western B League Champion. All in all, both Saratoga's football team and student body had a tremendous season. Manage-rg Coach Eidens, J. Tethers, Assistant Manager. Basketball Led by Coach Clyde Eidens, Saratoga Highs cage men captured their first Western B League trophy in three years. They had to beat Mechanicvilles Iron Men two out of three times to do it, the third tilt being a playoff game at Troy. In their first encounter with the Mechanicville team the Streaks were handed their first defeat of the season, 68-56g and when Scotia upset them in the eleventh game of the season, the trophy seemed to have been lost. After the league leaders had been upset, the Streaks slipped by them at Convention Hall to even up the league standings. The playoff on the neutral Troy High Court found the Saratogians on top in the final standings with a 58-57 win and a season record of 15 wins and 3 losses. At the date of publication the sectional championship had not yet been decided.
